Foroutan to manage cinema section

Iranian actor Mohammad-Reza Foroutan has been chosen to manage cinema section of the 3rd Health Film Festival.

Mohammad Kiasalar, director of the 3rd Health Film Festival introduced Foroutan as manager of the event's cinema section on Tuesday.

The other sections of this edition of the festival include documentary, short film, TV programs, and student section.

The Health Film Festival aims to showcase films with important subjects, such as those sharing information, providing direct and indirect training, promoting healthy lifestyles and retraining social harm.

Slated for August 23-27, 2018 in Tehran, the festival aims at collecting brilliant ideas by inviting committed cinema artists whose concern is healthy life for people.

Born in 1968, Foroutan is a PhD candidate in Clinical Psychology at Islamic Azad University.

His acting in an episode of the mystery drama ‘Clue’ in 1996 brought him an offer to play in Masoud Kimiai’s film.

He achieved a nation-wide fame after appearing in ‘Mercedes’ in 1997 and ‘Objection’ in 1999.

Shining in movies such as ‘Red’, ‘Two Women’, ‘Born in the Month of Mehr’, ‘Under the City’s Skin’, and ‘Winter Solstice’ made him a superstar.

He has also acted in movies such as ‘The Target’, ‘The Last Port’, ‘Friday Soldiers’, ‘Octopus’, ‘The Bachelors’, ‘Kandelous Gardens’, ‘While Everyone Was Asleep’, ‘Cold Soil’, ‘The Night Bus’, ‘Hidden Feeling’, ‘The Second Woman’, ‘My Child’, ‘14-Karat’, ‘Invitation’, ‘Being 40’, ‘The Other Man’, ‘The Pact’, ‘Unfinished Tajrish’, ‘No One, Nowhere’, ‘Metropol’, ‘Sensitive Level’, and ‘Night Shift’.

He has appeared in series such as ‘The Forgotten’ and ‘Ancient Land’ as well.

Foroutan received two Crystal Simorghs for Best Actor for his leading role in the physiological thriller ‘Red’ and ‘Slowly’.

He has bagged two Golden Statues for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Iran Cinema Celebration Awards for ‘Winter Solstice’ and ‘Red’.
